All 18 rescued crew members from the fire-struck Singapore-flagged container ship MV Wan Hai 503 safely reached New Mangalore Port in Mangaluru late Monday night.
Of them, two were critically injured while four others had minor injuries. Arrangements were made to provide immediate attention to all the injured.
Officials from Indian Coast Guard (ICG), immigration, New Mangalore Port Authority, and police are extending all necessary support to ensure timely and effective medical care to the rescued crew members, said an official from ICG.
The container ship Wan Hai 503 caught fire on board about 88 nautical miles from the coast of Beypore in Kerala on Monday.
ICG swiftly responded to the distress alert from the ship on Monday morning following an explosion and a subsequent fire onboard. The vessel had departed the port of Colombo with 22 crew onboard on June 6 for the Nhava Sheva Port in Mumbai with an estimated time of arrival June 9.
