The construction of the pavilions for the National Saras Mela and the ‘Ente Keralam’ Expo being held from May 2 to 13, are nearing completion at Kozhikode beach. The expos will be mainly held in two air conditioned German Hanger pavilions that spread over 45,000 square feet each, near the Beach Freedom Square. Another 20,000 square feet pavilion is being set up for the food stalls and dining area. Of the 50 food stalls, around 15 are from other states.
The expos will together feature around 500 stalls, for exhibition, sale and services. Kudumbasree units from across the state and Self Help Groups from other states will be part of the Saras mela. Cultural programmes will be held at the open stage every evening.
The Ente Keralam Expo will feature the achievements of the state government over the last 4 years. Modern technologies including virtual reality are being used to keep the departmental stalls active. The services of various departments will be available at the respective kiosks to be set up in the pavilion. Exhibition of agricultural products, medicinal plants, rare breeds of animals, birds and a dog show by the police will be part of the show. There will be special sports areas besides daily seminars and discussions.
