Suspended IPS officer Anjaneyulu grilled for two days in Bollywood actress case

The Crime Investigation Department (CID) police questioned senior IPS officer, P. Sitarama Anjaneyulu, for two days in the presence of his lawyers in connection with the alleged harassment of Bollywood actress, Kadambari Jethwani.

It is alleged that the Ibrahimpatnam police registered a false case against Ms. Kadambari and her family members in February 2024, under the directions of the then Intelligence Director General, P. Sitarama Anjaneyulu.

During questioning, Mr. Anjaneyulu, who is Accused No. 2 in the case, was asked why he intervened in the actress’s case, whether he was under any pressure, why he communicated with the Accused No. 1 Kukkala Vidyasagar at the NTR Police Commissionerate, and why the actress and her family members were detained in a hotel after their release on bail.

The CID police had arrested the suspended IPS officer on April 21, from his residence in Hyderabad. The court granted three days police custody of the accused.

After two days of questioning, the CID officers handed over Mr. Anjaneyulu to the Vijayawada jail authorities.
