Two nursing students were killed and two others were injured when a speeding goods carrier ploughed into them near Gadwal on Tuesday (April 29, 2025) evening.
The victims, identified as Manisha and Maheshwari, both aged around 16, were students at the Government College of Nursing near the Old SP office. According to the Gadwal police, the incident was reported around 5 p.m. when the students were waiting by the roadside, approximately 150 metres from their college, for transport.
A speeding goods carrier vehicle, approaching from the direction of Jammulamma Temple, veered off course and rammed an electric pole before hitting the group. “Two students died on the spot, while the other two sustained injuries and were shifted to a nearby hospital. They are currently undergoing treatment,” said an official from Gadwal police.
The driver of the vehicle has been taken into custody, and police suspect he may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of accident. A case has been registered, and an investigation is under way.
