Finance department sanctions ₹1,396.05 crore as first instalment of maintenance fund to local bodies


The Finance department has decided to release ₹1,396.05 crore as first instalment of maintenance fund (road and non-road) to local bodies for the 2025-26 fiscal. This includes ₹536.94 crore in the non-road component and ₹859.10 crore for roads.

As the first instalment, grama panchayats will get ₹878.49 crore in all, including ₹640 crore for maintenance of roads and ₹238.44 crore in the non-road category.

Block panchayats will be eligible for ₹76.10 crore in the non-road category.

District panchayats will receive ₹63.47 crore for maintenance of roads and ₹101 crore for non-road works. Municipalities will receive, respectively, ₹103.89 crore and ₹90.20 crore.

The six Corporations in the State will receive ₹51.69 crore and ₹31.18 crore respectively for road and non-road categories.

The State government had earmarked ₹4,188.15 crore towards the maintenance fund (road and non-road) in the Budget for the 2025-26 fiscal. The first instalment sanctioned now constitutes one-third of this amount.
