17-year-old dies as speeding tanker hits bike in Sadashivanagar


A 17-year-old pillion rider was killed and the rider was injured when a speeding milk tanker knocked them down at BHEL underpass in Sadashivanagar on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Harsha, a resident of Srirampura, who was on his way to work with his friend Sachin, 16, who was riding the motorcycle. The duo was working at a jewellery store on BEL Road and were on the way to work at around 6.30 am.

According to the police, the accused driver of the tanker Nagesh was drunk and driving in a rash and negligent manner and knocked down the motorcycle. Sachin lost balance and the duo fell on the road.

Harsha sustained severe injuries and was rushed to MS Ramaiah Hospital where he was declared as brought dead. Sachin also sustained injuries but is said to be out of danger.

The Sadashivanagar traffic police have arrested the driver and seized the truck for further investigation charging him under death due to negligence and rash and negligent driving.
