Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar has welcomed the Union Government’s decision to conduct a caste-based census, calling it a step towards the uplift of the backward communities and a move that promotes economic equality.
In an official statement on Thursday, Dr. Chandra Sekhar said the caste census would act as a guiding tool for inclusive development and benefit all the communities. He also said that under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the initiative would align with the State’s developmental goals and the NDA’s broader vision of social welfare and equity.
Dr. Chandra Sekhar expressed confidence that the caste census marked the beginning of a significant social change, helping in the elimination of the long-standing social inequalities. He noted that the NDA government had already accelerated growth and welfare programmes within a few months of assuming office at the Centre.
He added that Andhra Pradesh entered a new era of development under Mr. Naidu, and said the caste census would further enhance these efforts.
