A meeting on safe and smarter urban mobility organised by the Cyberabad police in collaboration with Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation and the Society for Cyberabad Security Council, on Thursday.
Infrastructure redesign, pedestrian safety, and easing vehicular congestion through strategic interventions, were the key focus areas discussed during a meeting on safe and smarter urban mobility by the Cyberabad police, in collaboration with Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) and the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC).
The meeting brought together senior police officials, urban planners, infrastructure experts, and representatives from real estate and corporate sectors to deliberate on sustainable and effective traffic and pedestrian solutions for key urban pockets, particularly Financial District, Knowledge City, T-Hub and surrounding areas.
One of the primary proposals discussed was the redesign of major intersections across Financial District and Knowledge City. Existing 90-degree turns and merge points are to be replaced with 45-degree free-left turns to streamline vehicle movement and reduce bottlenecks.
Plans are underway to construct underpasses and foot-over-bridges (FOBs) at high-density junctions such as Gachibowli and IKEA junction, to facilitate safe pedestrian crossings and reduce conflict points between pedestrians and vehicles.
In addition, redesigning and optimisation of footpaths in key commercial corridors, including Financial District, T-Hub, Satava and My Home areas, are expected to promote uninterrupted pedestrian mobility.
The meeting also addressed pressing issues related to parking and congestion in high-traffic zones. These include the identification of designated parking spaces for buses and cabs in the Raidurgam area, the creation of a temporary bus bay near Commerzone using an unused service road opposite Qualcomm, and the development of a skywalk with dedicated parking at the IKEA junction.
The relocation of a vendor street near the Commerzone turn and proposed road-widening initiatives from Sattva Knowledge Capital to the Hyatt, and further onward to Waverock, were also discussed.
