The NDA government is bringing light in the lives of workers, said Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu during his visit to Nellorepalem village in Atmakur mandal in SPSR Nellore district to distribute NTR Bharosa pensions on Thursday.

He said that about 85% of the workforce in the State was in the unorganised sector, with 65% dependent on agriculture. The Centre introduced MGNREGA to provide 100 days of work. Mr. Naidu said he had personally seen the hardships of construction workers as they toiled under harsh conditions.

“Due to the negligence of the previous government, the construction workers lost jobs and ended up on the streets. Sand was illegally transported to other States, causing loss of thousands of crores of rupees to the State’s exchequer,” Mr. Naidu said.

He said that he NDA government was supplying sand for free. It had made building approvals and layout permissions easier. It repealed the NALA Act. Building permissions were now given for cellars in constructions exceeding 500 sq. m. Road width for layouts had been reduced from 12 m. to 9 m, the Chie Minister said.

“When construction takes place, workers get jobs, wealth is created, and income flows in,” Mr. Naidu said, adding that new 100-bed hospitals were being built in Guntur and Sri City, and a 30-bed hospital in Kurnool for workers.
