Train mows down nine cows at Malampuzha

Nine cows were killed after being hit by three trains near Malampuzha in the district on Saturday. Railway officials suspected that Himsagar Express, Kochuveli-Yashwantpur Express, and Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram Mail were involved in the cow-hit incidents.

The police started a search for the owner of the cows following a complaint by the Railways. The police said the owner would be booked.

In a similar incident, 13 cows were killed near Meenkara Dam after being hit by an Express train last month. Railway officials raised concerns over the increasing incidence of cow hits on the tracks.
