KSEB to collect 8 paise per unit as surcharge in May


The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) will collect 8 paise per unit as fuel surcharge on electricity bills in May. The surcharge is meant to recover the additional amount spent on power purchases in March 2025. According to the KSEB, the amount to be recovered through the surcharge is ₹19.7 crore. The Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission has set a ceiling of 10 paise per unit for the automatic recovery of fuel surcharge by distribution companies.
