Three soldiers killed as Army vehicle falls into gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban


Three Army personnel died when their vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a 700-feet deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district on Sunday, news agency PTI reported, citing PTI officials.

The army truck was a part of the convoy moving from Jammu to Srinagar along NH 44 when the accident occurred near Battery Chashma aound 11.30 am, according to officials.

The three soldiers who died were identified as sepoys Amit Kumar, Sujeet Kumar and Man Bahadur and their bodies were being retrieved from the gorge, officials said.

A joint rescue operation was launched by the army, police, SDRF, quick response team and local volunteers and found the three soldiers dead on the spot, they added.

Officials further said the crash reduced the vehicle into a mangled heap of metal.
