Two girl students were barred from entering their National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) examination centre in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruppur on Sunday due to the presence of metal buttons on their attire.
The students were stopped at an exam centre in Thirumuruganpundi, where a rigorous check was held ahead of the examination.
In one instance, with limited time before the examination, the student with multiple buttons on her dress was able to proceed after her relatives provided a razor blade, allowing her to remove the buttons.
The second student found her dress unwearable without buttons. Fortunately, a female Tamil Nadu police officer stepped in to assist her, taking the distressed student to a nearby shop where she could purchase a new dress. She returned to the examination hall in time.
Across the Tiruppur district, a total of 3,212 students appeared for the medical entrance examination held on Sunday, May 4.
