A teenage girl in Uttar Pradesh attacked a shopkeeper with a blade after he refused to return or exchange the items she had purchased.
CCTV footage of the incident, which took place in Hapur, shows the girl, believed to be around 15 years old, attacking the shopkeeper with a blade. A woman standing next to the man quickly intervened and restrained the girl.
According to the shopkeeper’s brother, Dev Saini, the girl was a frequent customer who would often try to return previously bought goods. “This time we had already told her that this time we would neither return nor exchange the goods sold,” Dev said.
“She started abusing and threatened to hit with a blade. We ultimately agreed to take back the item and return her money and asked her to leave our shop. Then she took her money, turned around and suddenly attacked my brother, who was standing there with a blade,” he added.
Saini said they managed to catch the girl and hand her over to the police. CCTV footage of the incident was also submitted as evidence.
Police confirmed the incident and said the minor has a mental health condition. The case will be handled by a juvenile court.
