The much-awaited Pizhala–Moolampilly bridge link road and an electric crematorium at Kadamakkudy will be inaugurated on May 9, 2025, by Minister for Local Self-Government M.B. Rajesh. The 350-metre road, which will serve as the sole access to the Pizhala–Moolampilly bridge for the islanders, will play a key role in the lives of residents of Pizhala island.
The road was built at a cost of ₹1.94 crore. K.N. Unnikrishnan, MLA, will preside over the inauguration of the approach road and the electric crematorium, and panchayat president Mary Vincent will be among those present on the occasion. The electric crematorium has been constructed at a cost of ₹1.17 crore.
The new link road also serves as the primary approach road to the Pizhala–Chennur–Chariyamthuruth road, the Container Terminal Road (NH 966A) in the south, and National Highway 17 in the north. It is also the key access route to the Chennur–Kothad bridge, Valiya kadamakkudy–Chathanad bridge, Pizhala–Kadamakkudy bridge, and the Pizhala–Cheriya kadamakkudy bridge, according to an official communication here.
