The Uppinangady police registered a complaint against Belthangady MLA Harish Poonja for his alleged inflammatory speech at a function related to Brahamakalashotsava of Gopalakrishna Temple in Thekkar on Saturday.
In the complaint, S.M.S. Ibrahim Musliyar, alleged that Mr. Poonja blamed a section of Muslims for damaging some tubelights put up by the Brahamkalashotsava organising committee. The MLA questioned the organising committee members for inviting those Muslims for the event.
By making such inflammatory speech, the MLA has tried to create unrest and disturbed communal harmony in the society, Mr. Musliyar alleged.
The Uppinangady police registered the complaint for offence pumishable under Section 353(2) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
