India concludes free trade agreement with UK; PM Modi looks forward to welcoming British PM to India soon


In a significant milestone, India has successfully concluded a free trade agreement with the United Kingdom (UK) as well as a Double Contribution Convention. Describing the development as a “historic milestone”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the landmark agreements will further deeper the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. 

The agreements will also “catalyse trade, investment, growth, job creation, and innovation” in both economies, PM Modi wrote on microblogging site X (formerly Twitter). 

The Prime Minister also said he looks forward to welcoming his British counterpart to India soon.
