Civil Defence mock drill to be undertaken in identified railway stations by SCR; check details


Civil Defence Mock Drill: As part of the pre-war preparedness initiative undertaken by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) under the Civil Defence Programme, a comprehensive Civil Defence Mock Drill is scheduled to be conducted on May 7, Wednesday, in the following Civil Defence (CD) categorised railway stations under the jurisdiction of South Central Railway at Kacheguda (Hyderabad Division); Raichur (Guntakal Division) and Aurangabad (Nanded Division) stations.

The drill is being organised under the supervision of Udaynath Kotla, Controller of Civil Defence and Deputy General Manager (General), South Central Railway, along with a team of Civil Defense Volunteers, Instructors, and associated personnel who shall simulate a hostile attack scenario to evaluate emergency preparedness and inter-agency coordination.

The key components of the exercise include activation of air raid warning sirens, enforcement of crash blackout measures, evacuation plan rehearsals, readiness testing of Civil Defence services, including firefighting, Basic Life Support (BLS), and rescue operations, etc.

All concerned departments will be taking part and shall ensure the smooth execution of the mock drill at their respective locations. Additionally, blackout measures will be enforced in railway stations during the drill period, including switching off of non-essential lighting and covering of windows, in line with Civil Defence guidelines. This exercise aims to strengthen the overall emergency response framework and readiness of railway personnel and infrastructure in the event of a wartime emergency.
