Delhi airport issues passenger advisory as NOTAM withdrawn from 32 airports nationwide

The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI Airport) in Delhi has issued an advisory for travelers, urging them to stay updated on flight schedules and arrive early due to possible delays in security checks. This comes even as the NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) previously issued at 32 airports across India has now been officially withdrawn.

In a statement released on Monday, the Delhi Airport Authority clarified that all operations at the IGI Airport are currently functioning normally. However, due to heightened security measures and changes in airspace management, some flight timings may be affected.

“All operations at Delhi Airport are running smoothly. However, due to evolving airspace conditions and enhanced security protocols from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, some flights may experience schedule changes and longer wait times at security checks,” the statement read.

Passengers have been advised to:

Stay in touch with their airline for real-time flight updates

Reach the airport well in advance to avoid delays

Comply with baggage regulations and cooperate with airline and security staff

Rely only on official sources for information to prevent misinformation

The advisory emphasised, “We are working closely with all stakeholders to ensure passenger safety and smooth operations. Your understanding and cooperation are appreciated.”

Airports Authority of India statement

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) issued a clarification regarding the temporary closure of 32 airports for civil aircraft operations. The notice, which had been issued earlier, stated that the airports were closed until 05:29 hrs on May 15, 2025. However, the AAI confirmed that these airports are now open for civil aircraft operations with immediate effect.

Travelers have been advised to check flight status directly with airlines and monitor airlines’ official websites for the latest updates.

NOTAM withdrawn at 32 airports after review

In a related development, authorities have withdrawn the NOTAM imposed at 32 airports across the country. The temporary restriction on civilian flight operations was originally announced on May 10 amid rising Indo-Pak tensions. Following a review, the restrictions have now been lifted.

The affected airports included key installations such as Amritsar, Srinagar, Jammu, Chandigarh, Leh, and Jodhpur, among others. The full list of airports where the NOTAM has been rescinded includes:
Adampur, Ambala, Amritsar, Avantipora, Bathinda, Bhuj, Bikaner, Chandigarh, Halwara, Hindon, Jaisalmer, Jammu, Jamnagar, Jodhpur, Kandla, Kangra (Gaggal), Keshod, Kishangarh, Kullu Manali (Bhuntar), Leh, Ludhiana, Mundra, Nalia, Pathankot, Patiala, Porbandar, Rajkot (Hiraser), Sarsawa, Shimla, Srinagar, Thoise, and Uttarlai.

Passengers traveling from or to these airports can expect a return to normal operations, though some delays may still be possible as systems stabilise.
