The Roadster X was first unveiled in February 2025 with a starting price of ₹74,999 (ex-showroom). Despite its promising debut, the Bengaluru-based electric vehicle manufacturer failed to deliver any units until now, having missed multiple promised deadlines. The initial delivery timeline was set for March, which was then pushed to April and again to May, drawing criticism from early buyers.
According to Ola’s filings, production of the Roadster X finally ramped up at the company’s Futurefactory in Tamil Nadu last month, and the company reaffirmed that deliveries would begin in May. Friday’s announcement confirms that the third timeline is now being honored.
Ola Roadster X: Power and Performance
The Roadster X is available in two main variants — the standard X and the premium X+. The standard Roadster X features three battery pack options: 2.5 kWh, 3.5 kWh, and 4.5 kWh. All variants are powered by a 7 kW electric motor producing 9.4 bhp, offering a top speed of 118 kmph and 0–40 kmph acceleration in just 3.1 seconds. The highest-capacity 4.5 kWh battery offers a claimed range of 252 km per charge.
The Roadster X+ raises the stakes with an 11 kW motor producing 14.75 bhp. It is available in 4.5 kWh and 9.1 kWh battery configurations. The latter is powered by Ola’s advanced 4680 Bharat Cell technology, enabling an exceptional 501 km range on a full charge. The X+ also boasts a faster 0–40 kmph time of 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 125 kmph.
With deliveries finally underway, Ola Electric will be closely watched for how efficiently it fulfills backorders and manages the demand for its debut motorcycle. The successful rollout of the Roadster X could mark a significant milestone for India’s growing EV motorcycle market.
