Covid-19 Update: Coronavirus cases rising in Delhi, Karnataka, Maharashtra; check out active cases in India and other key details


Coronavirus cases have been rising gradually in some states. These states include Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Delhi, and Maharashtra. However, as per the health authorities most of the cases remain mild in nature.

Active cases in India

According to the current data on the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare official website, there are 1,009 active cases (as of May 26, 2025, at 8 AM IST) in India. 

As of Thursday, the city has registered 23 Covid cases, according to Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Singh. To ensure the availability of beds, oxygen, medications, and vaccines, hospitals in the nation’s capital have received an advice.

Covid-19 related death in India

Maharashtra: A 21-year-old Covid-19 patient who was undergoing treatment at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Kalwa Hospital in Thane after testing positive died on May 25, Thane Municipal Corporation said.

A 84-year-old man with severe comorbidities has died due to multi-organ failure in Karnataka’s Bengaluru, and his COVID-19 test results came back positive on Saturday. The health department said that the city’s Whitefield resident died on May 17 due to multi-organ failure.

According to the health department, 38 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the state, including 32 in Bengaluru.

Karnataka: Bengaluru has reported its first Covid-19 death, according to an official statement issued by the Karnataka Health Department.

The patient died on Saturday (May 24), said the Health Department, adding that 108 persons were tested for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, and five persons tested positive. One person was discharged from the hospital, and the total number of active cases stood at 38.

Amid the fear of the spread of Covid-19 in Karnataka, the state government has directed authorities to stock up necessary testing kits for the coming month.

However, the state government said on Saturday that there is no need for any concerns in this regard.

Among the 35 Covid-positive individuals identified in Karnataka, none have developed severe symptoms. Only mild symptoms have been observed. 

Most of the states including Delhi has issued advisories and requsted people not to panic.
