Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, June 6 to inaugurate several major infrastructure projects, including Chenab Bridge and Anji Bridge.
According to PMO, the visit will focus on improving rail and road connectivity in the region.
During his J&K tour, the PM will flag off two Vande Bharat Express trains between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Srinagar and also dedicate the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL), a 272 km project which includes 36 tunnels and 943 bridges and all weather rail connectivity to the Kashmir Valley.
Moreover, Modi will lay the foundation stone for several road projects such as the widening of the Rafiabad-Kupwara road and the construction of the Shopian bypass. Two new flyovers in Srinagar will also be inaugurated to help ease traffic congestion.
The PM will also lay the foundation stone for the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence in Katra that will be the first medical college in Reasi district.

The Chenab Rail Bridge is world’s highest railway arch bridge which is located 359 meters above the Chenab River. While, Anji Bridge is the nation’s first cable-stayed rail bridge. These bridges are expected to significantly improve travel between Jammu and Srinagar cutting travel time by 2–3 hours, according to the government.
