Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday dialled Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk to discuss issues related with technological collaboration beside others.
“Spoke to @elonmusk and talked about various issues, including the topics we covered during our meeting in Washington DC earlier this year. We discussed the immense potential for collaboration in the areas of technology and innovation. India remains committed to advancing our partnerships with the US in these domains,” Modi said in a social media post.

This discussion took place at a time when the US Vice President would be in India for an official-cum-private visit from March 21 to March 24. Vance will meet Prime Minister Modi on April 21, 2025.
At the same time Indian team is likely visit the US next week to prepare the ground to launch formal negotiations on their Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA). The visit comes amid the virtual discussions between sector experts from India and the US, which began early this week. After the virtual dialogues, formal confabulations would begin when negotiators meet physically in the later part of May.
Modi-Musk discussion is also important as latter’s SpaceX is planning to enter India. The US Company has already entered into partnership with two leading Indian teclos, Airtel and Jio. Also, Musk’s Tesla is reportedly exploring opportunities to enter the Indian electric vehicle market.
PM Modi met Elon Musk in February this year, during his two-day visit to the US. The SpaceX CEO was accompanied by his three children – X, Strider and Azure. During the meeting, Elon Musk gifted PM Modi a Starship hexagonal heatshield tile.
