MLA Channareddy Patil Tunnur was on Tuesday shocked after seeing empty chairs in many government department offices even after an hour had passed from the commencement of the working hour.
The State government changed working hours for government offices from 8 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. on April 1 owing to excess heatwaves and a rising mercury.
However, officers in many departments hadn’t arrived in their offices when he paid surprise visit on Tuesday.
To know reality, Mr. Tunnur paid the surprise visit to the Mini Vidhana Soudha where a majority of the government offices are housed. But he was shocked to see empty chairs, as many officers weren’t present.
Then, he visited Deputy Commissioner B. Susheela’s chamber where she wasn’t present. When he called her, she tried to convince the MLA, citing reasons for the non-availability of the officers during his visit.
Mr. Tunnur asked Dr. Susheela to ensure compulsory attendance of officers during working hours. Responding to him, she promised to send instructions to all government employees about their arrival on time.
