Bengaluru road rage assault case: Police continuing probe


The Byappanahalli police have continued the investigation into the road rage assault case involving a call centre employee and an IAF officer and questioned eyewitnesses to record their statements. The police collected mobile clips recorded by witnesses who later intervened and tried to defuse the situation.

After a countercomplaint was filed by the call centre employee, Vikas Kumar, the police charged Wg. Cdr. Shiladitya Bose under various sections. The two had got into a fistfight near C.V. Raman Nagar on Monday.

Wg. Cdr. Bose has been charged under Sections 109 (attempt to murder), 115 (2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 304 (snatching for theft), 324 (crime of mischief), 352 (intentional insult with an intent to provoke breach of peace), for further investigation.

On Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar spoke to Mr. Kumar and assured him of justice in the incident. JDS leader Nikhil Kumarswamy condemned the incident and extended support to Mr. Kumar.

The police are yet to question Wg. Cdr. Bose’s wife, also an IAF officer, was driving the car and was present at the time of incident.
