Arson attack destroys two villages in Manipur Kamjong district, curfew imposed

Two villages in Manipur were razed after some miscreants set them on fire on Wednesday morning.

Gampal and its hamlet Hayang in Kamjong district of Manipur were set on fire by unidentified arsonists at around 9 am on Wednesday.

As a precautionary measure to prevent further escalation, the district administration has imposed a curfew in the entire jurisdiction of Gampal and Hayang starting from 2 pm on Wednesday.

According to Kamjong SP, all village houses in Gampal and Hayang were burnt down in the arson attack, posing a serious threat to law and order and risking disruption of peace and public tranquility in the region.

Residents were caught off guard as the blaze engulfed homes and granaries, wiping out years of livelihood and effort.

While Hayang is not officially recognised as a revenue village, it housed several families who have now been left displaced and devastated.

Authorities have launched a formal investigation to determine the facts and motive behind the attack.
