Tirumala tightens security after terror attack in Pahalgam, strict security checks for all devotees

Following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives, including two from Andhra Pradesh, the sacred temple town of Tirumala, has been put under high alert.

The incident has prompted authorities to ramp up security measures to ensure the safety of devotees.

Police presence has been considerably increased in and around the temple town, particularly at the GNC Tollgate — the main entry point to Tirumala.

Checks on vehicles travelling up the ghat road from Alipiri have also been intensified. Officers are thoroughly inspecting Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) buses, private vehicles, and luggage both midway along the ghat road and at the Alipiri toll gate.

Authorities have stated that all precautionary measures are being taken to prevent any untoward incidents. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) administration, in response to reported warnings from intelligence agencies, has enhanced security arrangements throughout the temple town.

Additional personnel have been deployed and patrolling has been stepped up across key areas.

Security officials are also conducting round-the-clock monitoring in and around the Srivari Temple, ensuring devotees can proceed with darshan peacefully and without disruption.
