Corporate and state support pour in
The NSE’s announcement follows a wave of support from both government and private institutions. Earlier this week, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani offered free medical treatment to the injured victims at the Reliance Foundation Sir HN Hospital in Mumbai. “We wish a speedy and full recovery to all those injured,” said Ambani, committing his hospital’s services to the victims without cost.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced an ex gratia compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the families of those killed. Additionally, those who suffered serious injuries will receive Rs 2 lakh, while persons with minor injuries will be given Rs 1 lakh as relief.
Deadliest strike in the Valley since Pulwama
The April 22 attack is being called the most deadly in the Valley since the 2019 Pulwama bombing. Eyewitness reports suggest the terrorists indiscriminately opened fire on tourists, catching many off-guard as they were visiting the scenic Baisaran meadows. The timing of the strike just as Kashmir’s peak tourist and trekking season was beginning has drawn widespread condemnation.
PM Modi vows justice, strengthens anti-terror resolve
Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a strong statement following the attack, saying, “I strongly condemn the terror attack in Pahalgam… those behind this heinous act will be brought to justice. They will not be spared.” He also assured that all possible assistance is being extended to the victims and their families.
The central government has intensified counter-terror operations in the region, vowing to thwart any attempts to disrupt peace in the Union Territory.
