Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Saturday (April 26, 2025) announced an increase in the monthly and family pensions of former Members of Legislative Assembly (MLA) and Legislative Council (MLC).

Responding to a request by Deputy Speaker K. Pitchandi and another member Poovai Jagan Moorthy, the Chief Minister said the MLAs’ monthly pension will be increased to ₹35,000 from ₹30,000. This will be implemented from April 1, 2025.

The family pension of MLAs and MLCs will be increased from ₹15,000 to ₹17,500. “The medical allowance for former MLAs and MLCs will be ₹1 lakh instead of ₹75,000. As the allowance for the current year has already been released, the increased amount will be released after amending the rules,” he said.
