Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay on Saturday urged the party cadre to focus on building connections with people, stating that the party’s mission is to serve, not just contest for power.
Speaking at the party’s first booth committee workshop in Coimbatore, he said, “Vote alone is not important. Ground work is needed to earn the trust of the people.”
He further said the workshop was organised to strengthen these connections.
Mr. Vijay said that members of the TVK would not deceive the people, unlike others. “Each booth-level agent is a warrior. We have the truth, courage, and ability to succeed,” he said.
The two-day workshop, held at a private college in Kurumbapalayam, saw the participation of more than 8,000 cadres from Salem, Namakkal, and Erode districts on the first day. The second day will cover cadres from Coimbatore, Tiruppur, the Nilgiris, and Karur.
The booth-level agents were briefed on voter outreach strategies, booth management, and strengthening of local presence. A booklet and a pen drive containing data on the 2019 and 2021 elections were distributed.
Party cadres and supporters thronged Coimbatore airport on Mr. Vijay’s arrival on Saturday. Some climbed atop his vehicle, while a few youth, recklessly followed him on two-wheelers, leading to chaos on the road.
