An elderly tribesman was killed in an elephant attack at Attappady on Sunday. Kali, 63, from Swarnagadda Unnati hamlet in Pudur panchayat had gone into the forest to collect firewood along with his relative when the attack took place.
He was reportedly trapped amidst an elephant herd. His relative ran about one and a half kilometres to inform the people about the attack.
Forest officials and local people reached the spot and carried badly injured Kali to Taluk Tribal Speciality Hospital at Kottathara. He was referred to Government District Hospital in Palakkad. But he died on the way to the hospital.
