A.P. govt. remains committed to development of dairy sector: Minister Ramprasad Reddy

Minister for Transport, Youth Affairs and Sports Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy on Sunday (May 4) highlighted that the government was focussed on the welfare of dairy farmers and said a boom awaited the sector in Rayalaseema.

Interacting with farmers after inaugurating a Mini Gokulam (cattle shed), constructed at ₹2.5 lakh at Dinnepadu village of Lakkireddipalle mandal of Annamayya district, he said a plethora of welfare schemes and empowerment initiatives were rolled out to improve the livelihoods of the families, dependent on the dairy sector.

Mr. Ramprasad Reddy appealed to dairy farmers to utilise the support of the government and improve their lives. He expressed satisfaction that women farmers were on the forefront of making the dairy sector into a cottage industry in rural areas. “The government is committed to uplift the dairy farmers. They should also take the initiative to increase milk production and expand the sector,” he said.

The Minister highlighted the importance of cattle shelters. “Mini Gokulams are being approved for all eligible farmers in every village to protect the livestock from the elements and theft,” he said.

Officials of the Animal Husbandry, Agriculture and Horticulture departments, along with senior TDP leaders, took part in the meeting.
