Ahmedabad Air India Flight Crash: PM Modi speaks to Minister of Civil Aviation; Amit Shah going to Ahmedabad


An Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner traveling from Ahmedabad to London’s Gatwick Airport crashed shortly after take off this afternoon (June 12). Minutes after taking off from the airport, Flight AI171 went down with 242 passengers on board. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally discussed the Air India flight accident situation in Ahmedabad with Minister of Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu.

The Minister informed the Prime Minister that he is rushing to Ahmedabad to oversee rescue and relief operations on the ground. The Prime Minister has directed the Minister to ensure all necessary support is extended immediately and asked to be kept regularly updated on the situation.

All relevant agencies are on high alert, and coordinated efforts are underway.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah is going to Ahmedabad following the Air India plane crash. Before leaving, he spoke to Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel and Ahmedabad Police Commissioner regarding the indicent.
