“Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are modernising the chemical industry through enhanced data-driven decision-making, process automation and intelligent optimization systems,” Director of Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Dharwad Mahadeva Prasanna has said.
He was inaugurating a three-day workshop on “Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for Chemical Engineers” organised by the Department of Chemical Engineering of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Engineering and Technology (SDMCET) in Dharwad on Thursday.
The workshop is being held in association with the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE), BRC Bengaluru.
Presenting an elaborate picture on technological advances, Prof. Mahadeva Prasanna highlighted the growing significance of AI and ML in the engineering world.
Making the introductory remarks, Principal of SDMCET Ramesh L. Chakrasali emphasised the importance of interdisciplinary learning and the role of AI and ML in shaping the future of the chemical engineering education and industry applications.
Presiding over the inaugural session, Secretary of SDME Society Jeevandhar encouraged students and faculty to actively engage with new technologies to stay industry-relevant.
Lokeshwari briefed about the objectives of the workshop. Dean of Administration Keshava Josi and others were present.
Subsequently, resource persons from across the country addressed the participants.
Students, faculty members, and industry professionals are participating in the workshop.
