In the light of the terror attack in Kashmir that claimed 26 lives, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly R. Ashok has urged the State government to detect sleeper cells and maintain law and order in Karnataka.
“The government should maintain law and order, detect sleeper cells, monitor those with terror links released on bail and ensure the police take immediate action against them,” Mr. Ashok told presspersons here on Wednesday. He termed the deaths of Bharath Bhushan and Manjunath Rao, both residents of Karnataka, as tragic.
He claimed that sleeper cells exist in Bengaluru and Karnataka, and some even have voter identity cards. He also said that the BJP would hold a condolence meeting at its office and all taluk centres. As a mark of protest, BJP members would be wearing black bands.
Meanwhile, BJP MP and former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said the attack on innocent tourists at Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir was a heinous act and an attempt to revive terrorism, which every citizen must condemn.
Commenting on X regarding the incident, he stated that “firing bullets in the name of religion clearly indicates the involvement of anti-India forces. The Central government must take this matter seriously and take strict action”.
Mr. Bommai also urged the State government to make all necessary arrangements to bring back Kannadigas residing in the Kashmir Valley safely.
