ASUS ExpertBook P1 Review: Last month, Asus launched its AI-powered laptop — the ExpertBook P1 — in India. According to the company, this model offers high performance, high durability, great battery backup, seamless expandability, enterprise-grade security, and enterprise-grade service support. But is it really as good as the company claims? Let’s find out in this review.
ASUS ExpertBook P1 Review: Price, Processor
The ASUS ExpertBook P1 comes with an Intel Core 13th Gen i7 (H-series) processor paired with 32GB of DDR5 RAM, which appears to be a good proposition for a laptop priced at Rs 39,990.
ASUS ExpertBook P1 Review: Display, Design
The ExpertBook P1 feels lightweight (weighs only 1.6 kg), yet durable, as it is backed by MIL-STD-810H certification, making it ideal for travel and tough handling. The body is mostly plastic, however, a metal frame adds structural strength. Its misty grey colour with matte finish helps hide fingerprints.
Now let’s talk about the display. The laptop features a 14-inch Full HD display that performs well for everyday tasks like writing and emailing, especially indoors or in indirect light, thanks to its anti-glare coating. However, it is inadequate for creative work in bright light as it offers limited colour accuracy with just 45 per cent NTSC coverage. It has dual speakers that deliver clear audio. We conducted several virtual meetings and casual music or video sessions using the device, and the audio was quite clear.
ASUS ExpertBook P1 Review: Battery, Charging
Talking about the battery, it has a 50W battery, which may not seem very impressive on paper, but it performed quite well during our daily use, which involved moving between Google Docs, a bunch of Chrome tabs, and YouTube running in the background. On this kind of workload, we got about 5-6 hours, which felt really good – especially because we weren’t trying to save battery.
What really stood out to us, though, was the charging setup. It comes with a 65W Type-C charger, and even better, we were able to charge it using a third-party power bank. So, we didn’t have to carry the charger everywhere, which is a huge convenience, in our view.
ASUS ExpertBook P1 Review: Performance
The ExpertBook P1 is powered by a 13th Gen Intel Core i7-13620H and 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM. During testing, the device smoothly handled everything we threw at it, like Outlook, Slack, spreadsheets open, WhatsApp Web running, Spotify playing, and 10+ other browser tabs active – all without any hitch. Even though the processor is not the latest, it still offers more than enough power for daily tasks and moderately intensive workloads. However, for regularly gaming with high-end graphics, compiling large codebases, or editing 4K videos, this machine is not suitable.
ASUS ExpertBook P1 Review: Things That We Feel Could Have Been Better
To sum up, here are a few things that we feel could have been better:
– It offers limited colour accuracy, which needs to be improved.
– Not ideal for high-end gaming; graphics need improvement.
– Good for photo editing, but needs improvement for high-end video editing
ASUS ExpertBook P1 Review: Verdict
If you are a professional and want a laptop that works without any hassle, the ASUS ExpertBook P1 is for you. With a 13th Gen Intel i7 and 32GB DDR5 RAM, it handles everyday tasks with ease.
