Are banks open on June 7?
On Saturday, June 7, 2025, banks will be closed in most parts of the country in observance of Bakrid (Id-ul-Zuha), also known as the ‘goat festival,’ which honors Prophet Ibrahim’s sacrifice. However, banks in Ahmedabad, Gangtok, Itanagar, Kochi, and Thiruvananthapuram will remain open, as it is the first Saturday of the month. Typically, banks close on the second and fourth Saturdays, but not the first.
Bank Holidays in June 2025
According to the RBI 2025 calendar, there are 12 bank holidays in June. The holidays include the normal days off on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays and every Sunday along with some festivals like Bakrid, Rath Yatra, and Saint Kabir Jayanti.
Normal bank branches will remain closed on such dates. But online banking facilities shall continue as usual, inclusive of net banking, mobile banking, or UPI transactions. Customers may continue using ATM banking apps and ATMs as usual.
Certain services under the Negotiable Instruments Act will not be processed during this period however, including cheque transactions and promissory note transactions.
What services remain available on a bank holiday?
Online banking services will be available throughout the country on bank holidays. Customers can use these services to do their financial transactions easily.
You can make fund transfers using NEFT or RTGS. You can also request demand drafts and chequebooks. Card services for credit, debit, and ATM cards will be available. Other services like account maintenance, setting up standing instructions, and applying for lockers can also be done on bank holidays.
