In a major boost to India’s indigenous defense capabilities, Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) and L&T Defence are set to jointly develop the next-generation Pinaka Mk-III multi-barrel rocket launcher system in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
On the development, Bharat Dynamics traded higher with gains of over 1 per cent at Rs 1,969.45 per share on the BSE and in 3 months, the stock has gained over 72 per cent.
According to sources, the Indian Army is expected to receive the new system soon, with user trials for Pinaka Mk-III scheduled to begin by the end of 2025. The new system will bring enhanced range, accuracy, and firepower to India’s artillery regiments.22 Regiments Planned; Pinaka Mk-IV Development to Begin by 2027-28. Sources also revealed that the Indian Army has drawn up plans to induct 22 Pinaka regiments in the coming years, making it one of the largest artillery modernization programs currently underway.Furthermore, development work on Pinaka Mk-IV is expected to commence in 2027–28, pushing the envelope on next-generation artillery rocket systems with improved range and smart capabilities.
