Beggar gets life sentence for rape and murder In Kadapa

The 7th Additional District Judge’s Court in Kadapa slapped life sentence and a fine of ₹1 lakh on a beggar convicted of rape and murder in a 2022 case under Siddavatam police limits.

Narasimhulu (50) eked out a living by begging on the streets of Vellaturu village in Pendlimarri mandal in Kadapa district. In 2022, he found a 45-year-old mentally-deranged woman sleeping alone in front of Renuka Yellamma temple in Machupalli.

The beggar attacked her with a log, raped her and fled the spot. Vontimitta Circle Inspector (CI) B. Raja Prabhakar registered a case — Cr.No.95/2022 u/s 376(2) (L), 376A and 302 IPC. When the case came up for hearing on Wednesday, Judge G.S. Ramesh Kumar pronounced the verdict, sentencing him under 235(2) of Cr.PC, besides slapping a fine of ₹1 lakh.

Superintendent of Police (SP) E.G. Ashok Kumar appreciated the police personnel and the prosecution officials for bringing the case to an end.
