Bengaluru road-rage case: HC fiat to police

The High Court of Karnataka has directed the city police not to take any coercive action against IAF officer Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose based on the first information report (FIR) registered against him in connection with a road-rage incident.

Justice Hemant Chandangoudar passed the interim order on April 24 on a petition filed by Mr. Bose challenging the legality of registration of FIR against him.

The police had first registered an FIR on the case of assault on Mr. Bose by a call centre employee, Vikas Kumar S.J.

Later, the police registered another FIR against Mr. Bose based on a counter-complaint lodged by Mr. Kumar. The incident occurred on Monday near C.V. Raman Nagar.

“The police shall not take any coercive action and shall not summon the petitioner without following due procedure of law. The petitioner shall cooperate with the investigation. The chargesheet shall not be submitted without leave of this court,” it has been directed by the court in its interim order.
