Hyderabad-based NGO, the Council for Green Revolution (CGR), has listed its climate initiative on the National Stock Exchange’s Social Stock Exchange (SSE) on Wednesday. It is the 14th project to be listed on the platform.
The listing will support the expansion of CGR’s Young Earth Leadership Programme (YELP), which engages students in environmental education and school-level green initiatives, according to a release. The initiative aims to reach over 45,000 students with funding enabled through the SSE platform.
A tree plantation event marked the listing. “This is more than a listing, it’s a recognition of climate action as an investable, measurable and impactful domain,” said K. Laxma Reddy, Founder, CGR.
CGR’s listing highlights the growing collaboration between grassroots climate initiatives and India’s financial institutions, as the country works to integrate environmental goals into mainstream economic development.
