
Chennai Metro Asset Management Limited, a joint venture between Chennai Metro Rail Limited and TIDCO, has signed a ₹567-crore contract with Bridge and Roof Company (India) Ltd for the development of a Multimodal Facility Complex and the redevelopment of the Kuralagam Building at Broadway.
Chennai Metro Asset Management Limited (CMAML), a joint venture of Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) and Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO), has signed a contract for the development of a Multimodal Facility Complex (MMFC) and the redevelopment of the Kuralagam Building at Broadway.
The project was awarded to Bridge and Roof Company (India) Ltd at a cost of ₹567 crore and is being executed by CMAML on behalf of the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC).
The complex will include foot overbridges and subway facilities for seamless integration with the High Court metro station. The total area for the project is 6.484 acres. The MMFC building will have a total built-up area of 1,08,290.01 square meters. This includes two basement levels, a ground floor, and eight upper floors, a release said.
The redeveloped Kuralagam building will feature a total built-up area of 22,794 square meters encompassing two basement levels, Ground floor + 9 upper floors. It will also include dedicated spaces for paratransit facilities, subways, external foot overbridges, and internal covered pathways, contributing to a total built-up area of 1,36,580.37 square meters for the entire project.
The MMFC will feature 73 bus bays on the ground and first floors. The facility is designed to handle a planned population of 3,250 people at any given time. Parking facilities will be available across the MMFC and Kuralagam complexes, with a total capacity of 433 cars and 1,174 two-wheelers.
