The Crime Investigation Department (CID) police, who on Tuesday arrested former Intelligence Director-General P. Sitarama Anjaneyulu (P.S.R. Anjaneyulu) in Bollywood actress Kadambari Jethwani’s harassment case, questioned the IPS officer for about five hours.
The AP CID police took Mr. Sitarama Anjaneyulu into custody from his residence at Hyderabad earlier in the day and immediately shifted him to the CID office in Vijayawada.
Following a complaint lodged by Ms. Kadambari with the Ibrahimpatnam police in September last year, the police registered a case against Kukkala Vidyasagar, then Intelligence Director-General P.S.R. Anjaneyulu, Vijayawada Police Commissioner Kanthi Rana Tata, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP Law and Order) Vishal Gunni, West Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) K. Hanumantha Rao and Ibrahimpatnam Circle Inspector M. Satyanarayana and others.
The complainant alleged that the police officers colluded with Mr. Vidyasagar, foisted a false case against her and arrested them illegally and harassed her family members.
The police asked Mr. Sitarama Anjaneyulu on whose directions the police acted in the Kadambari’s case, why they registered the case without verifying the facts, why the police did not follow the rules, who brought pressure on investigation officers in the case and other issues.
The questioning continued in the CID office till late in the night, when the reports last came in.
“The CID police searched the house of Mr. Sitarama Anjaneyulu in Hyderabad. He will be produced in a court in Vijayawada after a thorough questioning,” a police officer said.
Following a complaint lodged by Mr. Kukkala Vidyasagar, of Krishna district, the Vijayawada Commissionerate Police allegedly booked a false case against the Bollywood actress and her family members. The Ibrahimpatnam police picked up the actress and her parents from Mumbai in February 2024, brought them to Vijayawada and produced them in a court, which remanded them in judicial custody.
