A slogan made popular by Bharatiya Janata Party leader, and the present Cabinet Minister in Delhi government, Kapil Mishra, during a rally in Delhi in support of CAA & NRC, was raised during the protest staged against the Pahalgam terrorist attack at the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation meeting attended by Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, Deputy Mayor Srilatha Shoban Reddy and others.

A sit-in was organised with much ado at the GHMC headquarters where efforts were made on putting together a seating arrangement for the protest, in which several corporators too participated along with the newly appointed GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan.

Close to 5 p.m., all the officers and staff gathered at the location and paid tribute to the slain citizens by observing two-minute silence.

The silence was broken by a Congress corporator who shouted Desh ke gaddaron ko…., which was feebly reciprocated by others who joined with Goli maaro s***on ko.

The slogan raked up a controversy when it was used in ‘Tiranga March’ organised by Mr. Mishra in 2019, and also during an election rally, when raised by former union minister Anurag Thakur.

Some reports connected the slogan to the Delhi riots which had resulted in bloodshed, arson and murders in 2020. Congress leadership had then condemned the slogan saying it was provocative and offensive.

The protest staged at GHMC had Ms. Vijayalakshmi assure full support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in any action against terrorism. Terrorist attacks spell doom for humanity, peace and social well-being, she said.
