DGP murder: CCB takes Om Prakash’s wife Pallavi into custody

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) probing the murder of former DG & IGP Om Prakash took his wife Pallavi into custody for seven days to ascertain the motive behind the murder.

Pallavi had allegedly confessed to murdering Prakash at their house in HSR Layout on April 20. She had allegedly stabbed him multiple times killing him on the spot, before informing her friend about the murder.

Even though she allegedly confessed to having killed him over a domestic row, there were multiple theories the police came across during the course of investigation which needed to be probed.

Considering her mental condition, she was arrested and remanded in judicial custody by the HSR Layout police before the case was handed over to the CCB.

The CCB officials obtained a body warrant to secure her custody from the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison where she was lodged.

Preliminary investigation suggests that Prakash got into an argument with Pallavi during lunch on April 20. The argument escalated and resulted in his murder. His daughter, Kriti, was also in the house when the incident took place.

The HSR Layout police registered the case based on a complaint by Prakash’s 38-year-old son, Karthikesh, who expressed suspicion about his mother and sister, claiming both were suffering from depression. On Monday, the police took Kriti to NIMHANS for evaluation.

Considering the complexities involved, the case has been transferred to the Central Crime Branch (CCB) for further investigation. The HSR Layout police handed over the case files to CCB on Wednesday.

The police will soon summon Kriti also for questioning, according to the sources.
