The Telangana government has appointed Dr. Raja Rao as the in-charge principal of Osmania Medical College (OMC), Hyderabad. The appointment order was issued on April 24 by Health Secretary Christina Z. Chongthu.
Dr. Rao’s appointment comes in the wake of a vacancy created after Dr A. Narendra Kumar, who previously held the post, was elevated as the Director of Medical Education (DME) in January this year.
Prior to this new role, he was serving as the principal of Government Medical College (GMC), Yadadri Bhongir, a post he assumed in July 2024 during a major reshuffle in the Health Department. Before that, he was the Superintendent of Gandhi Hospital, a position he took charge of in April 2020 at the peak of the COVID crisis.
