A team of experts from the Central Soil and Materials Research Station (CSMRS) and the Ministry of Jal Shakti visited the Polavaram project in Eluru district and collected soil samples on Thursday.
The Central team comprising B. Siddharth Hedaoo and Vipul Kumar Gupta, along with Water Resources Department and Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) representatives, visited the project site.
The expert team tested the quality of soil at different places on the project site, and gathered samples during their two-day visit.
They examined the soil at the spillway and other places. Samples would be tested in the CSMRS laboratory, they said.
Water Resources Department Divisional Engineer V. Nirmala, Executive Engineer V. Srinivasulu and MEIL engineers accompanied the expert team.
