A formal FIR has been registered following the terror attack in the Baisaran area of Pahalgam, where terrorists opened fire on tourists on April 22, which claimed 26 lives and left several injured.
According to the FIR, “Unknown terrorists have fired indiscriminately at the tourists who have come for the purpose of sightseeing in the Pahalgam area with automatic weapons obtained from illegal means under the direction of the masters sitting across the border.”
“They opened indiscriminate fire with the intention of killing and spreading fear and panic among the tourists who had come to the Pahalgam area for sightseeing. As a result, several tourists were injured, and a few lost their lives on the spot.”
The case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
As per the FIR, this is the sixth special nature case of its kind in the current year and the first such case in this specific location. A separate Special Report (Report A) will be compiled and submitted.
The FIR has been handed over to Anantnag ASP Ghulam Hassan for investigation as per the orders of senior officers. A police team has arrived at the incident spot for further investigation. A detailed supplementary report will be submitted by the investigating officer, the FIR said.
A targeted terror attack in the lush meadows of Pahalgam’s Baisaran on Tuesday killed 26 people, including two foreign nationals. The Resistant Front claimed responsibility for the attack. India has strongly responded to the attack by downgrading diplomatic ties with Pakistan.
