First Trade: Nifty opens higher by 40 pts; ITC gains 2%


Indian equities in Friday’s session opened weak amid global worries and as FII begin their selling spree. At the open, Nifty50 index gained 40 points- hovering above 24,600 levels.

Asian markets 

Most Asian stocks rose on Friday, with Japanese shares rising despite strong inflation data. This is even as higher fiscal debt of the US remained a concern. The key MSCI Asia ex Japan index traded higher by 0.29 per cent.
