Home Minister G. Parameshwara said the government will not spare anyone involved in the murder of Suhas Shetty in Dakshina Kannada district on Thursday night. “We have already formed four special teams and whoever is responsible for the murder will soon be apprehended and brought to book. Whoever it is, whichever party they may belong to, we will not spare them,” he said.
He further said that while Dakshina Kannada district and Mangaluru city were slowly returning to normalcy, the recent case of mob lynching and now the murder had disrupted this.
“I appeal to the people of Dakshina Kannada to maintain peace. We will ensure such incidents are not repeated. I have already deputed our ADGP (Law and Order) to Mangaluru. We have also deployed more force to ensure peace in the district,” he said.
Responding to allegations by Leader of Opposition R. Ashok and other BJP leaders that ‘Hindu activists’ were not safe under the Congress regime, Dr. Parameshwara hit back saying such analysis was politically motivated. “Aren’t we in Congress also Hindus,” he asked.
